  1. 1. Students often say, “I am not a good test taker.” What ideas in this chapter would be helpful to this student?

It would be a good idea for the student to just look at the test as a very small part of the whole class. The test is just seeing what the student knows. The student should focus on learning and understanding the material. The student should make sure they attend class regularly, take good notes, review notes immediately after class, then frequently to reinforce and review the knowledge. The student should have set times that they study. It is better to study frequently for shorter periods of time than to wait until the last minute to study and feel that you have to study for hours and hours. If the student feels that he/she is not a good test taker, they are also likely feeling some test anxiety as well. I would highly recommend that they do as mentioned above, and also get a good night's sleep before the test and eat a good breakfast in the morning. They should go to the test with a positive attitude; do not be afraid of the test. Be confident that you know the material and did your best to prepare.

    3. How do you study for a math test?

I study for a math test by looking back over my notes, previous quizzes/tests, and homework. I will cover up answers and re-work problems. I will also find similar problems in my textbook if I believe I may that type of problem on the test and work several of each type of problem so that I am confident in my ability to do that problem correctly. I make a special note of any type of problem that I am uncertain about, and I am sure to ask the teacher about it in class for clarification.

  2. 3. How do you study for a math test?

To be successful on my math test I can prepare my notes carefully, writing down the key formulas you will need for the exam. If I'm unable to use a note card, I'll have to memorize the formulas. The best way to do this would be to review them right before the test and write them on the test immediately. When I first get the test I can look over it quickly and find a problem I can easily solve, and do this one first. Also, I'll need to manage my time well and find out how many problems I have to solve and how much time is available for each problem. With this info I'll do the problems worth the most points first and stay on track. Lastly, I can estimate my answer and see if it makes sense or is logical.

    6. What is your best idea for studying for exams?

It will be key for me to attend every class so that I can learn from the teacher directly and anticipate what questions he/she will put on the test. I can't cram, I'll have to distribute the practice over time in order to encode the info into my long term memory. I'll have to take the time out of my days to review the material we covered in the last class and skim over what we're going to learn in the next class. To review I like to use flashcards, and use my other resources like the lecture slides on blackboard, also study guides and class notes can be great review tools.

  3. 2 . What are some suggestions for dealing with test anxiety ?

I can relate to this topic because when it comes to exams i start getting anxious. What i found in the chapter is to take breathing techniques. When i feel worked up right before an exam i stop and take a couple of breathes until i can fully relax. Having test anxiety is common so i keep in mind I am not the only one that goes through this. Also, i remind myself that i can do it and think positive. Thinking positive will help accomplish and relax a person. Going for a run the day before exams also help me as well.

    5. What are some disadvantages of cramming for a test and how can you avoid cramming?

Some people think they can do better on test if they the night or class before. While some people might be good at it others not so much. For me i make sure i study the material until i know how to do it. There might be times when i feel like going out but i know if i wait till last minute to study it can be a negative outcome. some people tend to wait last minute to study for a test or exam that they might have. Studying until the early hours of the morning will only make a person more tired and less focus. Its better to keep on studying the material and get enough sleep.

  4. 5. What are some disadvantages of cramming for a test and how can you avoid cramming?

Often times, when I procrastinate it is due to laziness. Laziness only consumes the valuable time to study or finish the work that needs to be done. Feeling the need to cram information into your memory become difficult and stressful. The text suggests that instead of cramming a lot of work into such a small amount of time, you should spread out the task into small increments over time. The information will not be overwhelming. This tip also increases the extra time that is available to review your work. Reviewing the work intermediately will help store the information into your long term memory.

    6. What is your best idea for studying for exams?

When studying for exams, it would be wise for the student to engage themselves in study groups. If they have an extrovert personality. Studies show that people work effectively in learning groups because of the diversity or perspective and in knowledge. If the student does not like to engage in study groups, it would be wise of them to arrange their notes possibly on flash cards or simply read them aloud in order for them to effectively remember the most important points. Also, the student should allow themselves enough time to review intermediately and immediately after lectures. Depending upon how much information is needed to memorize the student should make sure to continue reviewing the notes within the first week or two of the exam.

  5. 1. Students often say, “I am not a good test taker.” What ideas in this chapter would be helpful to this student?
A student should always believe in their selves and think positively. During a test, they should use test taking strategies. Students should have faith in their self. They can always use studying tools like flashcards and mind up. Taking tests can be complicated sometimes and it's a natural habit for everyone. Students can study the main and key points that the instructor gave. They should also not be shy and ask questions to the instructor or a classmate.

    3. How do you study for a math test?
Studying for a math test is really simple. All you have to do is memorize formulas and write numbers clearly. Review them first then write them down on your test so you won't forget them during the test. You can also review all your notes and jot down important ones. Students should always use a calculator if needed. Study guides come in really handy for math tests. Recheck your answers and try not to be late for your tests. First, you look through your test and find the easy problems. Solve them first. Think about all techniques you've learned in class. Look back to see if your answers are accurate.

  6. 3. How do you study for a math test?

The first thing i do is show up to class and take good notes. Attending math classes is very important because the teacher shows you how to solve the problems you will be dealing with. Next i memorize the formulas. You cannot solve any math problem if you do not know the applicable formula or procedure. Instead of reviewing the notes, i find math problems like the ones i am being tested on and solve them, referring back to my notes as needed. Most math classes these days are accompanied by books full of practice problems that you can use to review. For classes that dont, there are all sorts of websites that can provide problems for you as well. The best way to study math is just to practice.

    5. What are some disadvantages of cramming for a test and how can you avoid cramming?

The biggest disadvantage to cramming is that it does not enable you to study the details as required for the upcoming exam. Cramming, when done correctly, allows you to learn the major points and gives you a general understanding of what is going on. But if the question asked deals in the specifics, you are left guessing. You can avoid cramming by allotting yourself time to review the information daily, breaking it up into smaller sections that are easier to remember. Sometimes it is better to stay at home and study rather than attend some social event.

  7. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?

I think the best way to prevent test anxiety comes from good preparation. If you are well prepared for the test, are well studied, and are confident in the knowledge that you have about the material, than you will avert most of that anxiety. I think nothing can put your mind at ease more than feeling like you know all the material front and back. Another great strategy is acknowledging that you are feeling anxious and nervous. It is important that you do not deny it. It really helps me to stay positive. I tell myself that I can do this, and that I am confident in the studying I have done. I believe that are mental attitude will have clear effects on our performance. When I approach things with a more positive attitude, I tend to do much better, taking test is no exception. A technique from the text that I am going to start using, is doing the easiest questions first. It makes sense that this will relax you, and make you feel less anxious. By doing the easy questions first you are able to keep calm, ease yourself into the test, and build a lot of confidence. I think that gaining a lot of confidence from the beginning like that will interfere with a lot of that internal noise making me feel anxious.

    4. What is the ideal way to review for a test?

The best way to review for a test is to review the material consistently. Reviewing the material the week before the exam is not an effective habit to be successful. Using the distribution practice is the most effective. Studying small amounts of important information intermittently is much more helpful in learning everything. If you study things right after your lectures, the repetition will create better understanding. It will also aid you in memorizing the material. Then you should continue to revisit the material through out the weeks before your exam. You want to take in the information as you go so that you are not forced to try and learn it all in a short span of time. If you want to do well, you start studying from the first day you start going over new chapters for an exam. It is important that you are always looking at the material, so that it is not foreign a week before the test is scheduled.

  8. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?
I can connect with this topic because I do get anxiety before and during tests. I’ve found giving myself a little time to calm down and take deep breaths helps me a lot. I also tend to daydream which I feel isn’t the best thing I should do when taking a test and I should probably try break that habit. I do plan to get a good night’s sleep before a test and I also plan to keep positive thoughts during the test so that I can ease my anxiety.

    4. What is the ideal way to review for a test?
I feel the best way to review for a test is to recite what you’ve learned. I feel in order for a person to do well and get the right grades they want is to constantly practice what they’ve learned. Flash cards are one effective way to learn. Flash cards can also make learning interesting and fun. Another ideal way to review is by mind maps. Mind maps help you make a visual picture of what you’ve learned and you want to remember.

  9. Question 1:

For me, test taking is a challenge. However, I often strategize whenever one is nearing considering there are many ways to break down what is most challenging to me. First, I utilize study groups. I feel that they are extremely advantageous, and it really helps to have other students in the same class help you out on the material you on struggling with. Another is question prediction. I often write down/highlight key terms in lectures that I feel are heavily stressed. By doing so, I'm not only narrowing the amount of information that I need to know in order to succeed in the class, but also identifying potential questions that could determine how well I perform on the exam. These are only a couple of the many tactics I use to strengthen my overall performance on a test, and they may very well be the most important.

    Question 5:

Cramming for exams is often not a good technique. I use to cram for tests when I felt I had no other choice but to do so, and believed that I would be ok considering the test would be on the next day and I wouldn’t forget the information that quick. However, I was in for a rude awakening when the next day came, the test was placed before me, and it appeared to be in a completely different language than what I originally studied. Eventually I learned that it’s much more beneficial to distribute small amounts of study time throughout the week, so that the information is fresh in your head. My simple acknowledgement of this disadvantage and adoption of a new tactic really worked out well, and I’m still using the technique of study time distribution to this day.

  10. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?
Before the test: Get a good night's sleep the night before the exam. Make a list of all the work you have to do, estimate how much time each item will take, and compare that with the amount of hours you have available. a piece of candy will led your mind off of your anxiety.
During the test: Students should budget their test taking time. Breathing to reduce test anxiety, and can be extremely effective in helping relax. If you go blank, skip the question and go on. Lastly, visualizing yourself doing well is a way to ‘practice’ success in a way that can actually help you perform better.

How do you study for a math test?
Attend class every day and take complete notes. also listen be careful to your instructor because Math do not need a lot of time to read it only need to understand the steps and keep the formula in your mind .Moreover, do your homework problems because a lot of exam problems are extremely similar to homework problems; sometimes they are even exactly the same. Finally, if you do not understand something during the lecture ask your question in the same time.

  11. What is the ideal way to review for a test?

There are many ways to study for a test. One way is over time review what you learned couple days ago to keep your mind fresh. Secondly study the key ideas and to do that write them on flash cards and study overtime. Lastly look over your notes once in a while it refreshes your memory and help you remember what you have learned because most exams reflect what you learned in first chapters.

How do you study for a math test?

This is my tips when I study for a math test before the math test even arrive I learn how to do every single formula because the test is based on every formula you learn so knowing the formula you “A” the test. Also if you don’t know how to solve a problem ask before the test because it will hunt you during the test (I tried it and it wasn’t good idea).

  12. What are some disadvantages of cramming for a test and how can you avoid cramming?

Reading of the test in the final hours of the exam, lead to a concentration of information all over shortly and incomprehension well, not taking enough time to sleep. Going to an exam tired can often negate the benefits that occur from taking the extra time to study. The main problem is the lack of time division correctly, that divided the time from the beginning we will study less per day and thus will be absorbed by our brain and we will see that we finished a regular study time. Students must not wait for the countdown to begin their studies because it will strain them too much and will build lesson is orderly and easy to forget.

What is the ideal way to review for a test?

Ask your teacher to clear any uncertainties you have before the exam. Do your best on the exam and do not put too much undue pressure on yourself to perform. The most important point, do not ask yourself how much you will take in the test but ask yourself how much I learned! Attend any available review sessions even if you feel you don't really need it because it is very important to you to improve your knowledge. Plan your time before the exam to be sure you have enough of time to study.

  13. 5. What are some disadvantages of cramming for a test and how can you avoid cramming?
Procrastination is the most popular viral disease among college students, besides AIDS. Just kidding. Unlike high school, we as student have a lot more free time and its up to us to decide what to do during that given time; work, study, or spend leisure time relaxing. Cramming for a test is not effective as studying the information daily. Let the information marinate into the mind rather than waiting until the last second. To avoid procrastination, form a study group and create a schedule for meeting times. Lack of motivation usually leads to procrastination, however with a group of friends, your motivation can be lifted because they are going through the same thing you are. Create a schedule and go along with it.
    6. What is your best idea for studying for exams?
Flash cards is the most commonly used tool for me when it comes to studying and knowing my key words. There are many mnemonics to help you memorize things but when it comes to a skill subject such as math, computers, or physics, practice is a must. The more you do the more you will be able to feel comfortable and confident in your work. Like my answer given above, form a study group. This will be vital and will help students out a lot. Why study alone when you can make friends and learn from others as well. They might have the same problem or issue you do. they may have solutions and can walk you through the answers personally if there is no teacher acceptability around. Take advantage of your peers and studying with them will be very effective.

  14. What is your best idea for studying for exams?

Writing color coded notes are the best way to study for an exam. Firstly, the human brain learns things better in color (we remember the color blue more easily). Furthermore, it is easier to go over notes that are color coded because of the meaning behind each color. For example, I will write terms in blue, and the definition in bright pink. Whenever I am taking a test, I remember the term in blue and picture it, and can see the definition in pink. Moreover, if one needs to quickly review over certain things in a notebook, it’s organized in way where looking for something isn’t so complicated and frustrating to find, it’s simply “there.”

How do you study for a math test?

I currently am in Math 160 (statistics) and find it very different from other math classes I have taken. Although, I study the same way for every any math class previously taken. Homework is the biggest and best thing to study from. It has many problems with various differences that will ready one for a math test. Moreover, if one is lucky enough to get a pre-test or practice test to do before the exam, is another great way to study for a math test. Furthermore, by showing up regularly to class taking notes will also increase your knowledge and make math easier for you.

  15. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?

Some suggestions for dealing with test anxiety is to not cram everythng last minute which causes the anxiety because one was not prepared. If you are dealing with test anxiety, you should think positive; keep telling yourself that you will do well on the test. Another thing to do is be calm, go out for a jog or walk to relieve some stress and get your mind off things that are bothering you. On the day of the test, take a few deep breaths in and out ot keep you relaxed. And dont forget to get a good night of rest.

    4. What is the ideal way to review for a test?

The ideal way for reviewing for a test begins with the material you have just learned from lecture. Right after the lecture, you should look over the notes you just took so that it will remain in your long term memory. Throughout the semester you should be studying the material frequently dispersed. While reviewing, it is best to look over materials for at least 20 minutes, never cram and study for hours, which will result in over thinking.

  16. 4. The ideal way to review for a test is to take notes in class, and then look at the notes as soon as possible. Review the notes over time and keep studying them until the test. Don't just look at them the night before.

    6. My best idea for studying for an exam would be using note cards. Every time I have a test, I make a note card for each key point and go over them until I don't need to look at the note card anymore.

  17. 2. There are a lot of things you can do to deal with test anxiety. When I get anxious about a test I tend to calm myself down by telling myself that it is going to be all okay. There are a lot of techniques you can use to calm you down like taking five deep breathes. I try to get a good night sleep before a test because it’s hard to keep calm on an unrested mind. It makes it easier to learn if all of your studying is spread out instead of just crammed. I have always had a problem with procrastination.

    3. I have never really had to study before. I am one of those lucky people you hear about that can do well on a test without ever looking over my notes. But now is a different story. Now I would study for the entire week before the exam. I would break up the chapters of the exam and space out my studying. Depending on the numbers of chapters for the test is how I would break it up. I would feel a lot better on the day of the test after studying like that than how I ever have before.

  18. 4.The ideal to review for a test would include the following. Each day after class I would review all the notes I had taken up until that point, reviewing twenty minutes after the class helps prevent a large percentage of forgetfulness that occurs soon after class. The number chapters that are included in the test would determine the number of days that would begin reviewing before the test day. Ideally I would allow my self a full week for a normal test, and for a final I would allow for twice that. The day of the test I would scan over any notes I had prepared up until that time, I would also make sure to show up to class early so that I can make my self calm and collected.

  19. 5.Some times cramming is absolutely necessary, occasionally you have many tests on the same day or in close proximity to one another and you have to pick and choose which classes get lots of study time and which get only a little. During these occasions cramming is very necessary other wise you get no study time at all. The down side to cramming is you don’t get all the extra study time and reviewing that you get when you don’t have to cram. The other benefit you do not gain from cramming would include the information being stored in your long term memory after cramming the information you have memorized is quickly lost.

  20. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?
There are a lot of ways to deal with test anxiety, some examples are, be clam, be relaxed. It will calm your mind down and be able to make you think more clearly. Do the questions that you know first. Eat a good breakfast before the test & get a good nights rest before the test, so you have that energy the next day to put all into your test. Keep thinking positive thoughts, thinking negatively will not make your mind at ease which will therefore make you a lot more anxious about the test.

4.What is the ideal way to review for a test?
First, manage your time. Spread out what you need to do so you are not doing it all at the last minute. Go over your important notes, maybe use flash cards, that's a good way to get your facts and fast. Constantly look at your notes, day after day, not just one day.

  21. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?

Use negative reinforcement whenever you have negative feelings about the test. Not too negative of enforcement though, we're not psychos here. Recognize that you studied thoroughly and know the information well enough, maybe even study a little more. Take some time also to clear your head and maybe even take your mind off it for a little. Before the test, mentally prepare, then give it hell.

    6. What is your best idea for studying for exams?

If you attend every lecture, take notes, and think about the material that you learned later on, you should barely even have to study. Review all the material for the section the test covers once a day for about 30 minutes, every day, 4 or 5 days before the test, and again on the day of the test. Usually this technique yields A's.

  22. 2. What are some suggestions for dealing with text anxiety?
Test anxiety can be extremely tireing and impractical. It can actually make you do worse on a test than you were if you were properly relaxed. The first step to avoid test anxiety is to study properly. Finish your studies in a timely manner and study smart. Get to bed at a reasonable time and try not to stress too much about the test. When you do feel stressed out, try relaxation techniques such as focusing on your breathing or using positive self talk.

    6. What is your best idea for studying for exams?
The best way to study is to study as you are learning. Attend your classes and read your text book. Pay attention in class by using active listening. Take notes and review them immediately after class. If you have questions, ask them. If you need additional help, seek a counselor. Before the exam, study your material in a smart way. Make sure you get propper rest and think that you will succeed.
